Mum's Story
By: Shannell's Mum, New Zealand
My name is Joss and I am the mother of a child with Dysautonomia.
We have just found out in the last month that's what it is.
It's a bit like winning lotto, I feel rich with knowledge, instead of poor with doubt.
The journey has been long and hard, and fort with determination.
The feeling of self satisfaction and gloating is very hard to fight.
I was right they were wrong, but in the end it doesn't really matter.
What matters is the child.
The one who I have to pick up off the stairs or help get to the toilet one day
and then says she's perfectly fine the next.
She now knows what is wrong with her.
The loss of health, friends, education, self esteem, and childhood can all be explained.
These words may not mean a thing to the Teachers and Doctors -
But they mean life to my daughter and myself..
